Ever since I was a kid I always had a drive to want to create things whether it was in video games, tech, or art. My influences that really inspired me was Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo, Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli, and Steve Jobs of Apple. Each of these people all had a different impact on my life that pushed me into the realm of design and as the world advances I knew that being in gaming was the natural place for me. The River Village - Third Person Stealth Whitebox - The River Village Type: Personal Project Development: December 2020 Description: “The River Village” is a third person stealth platformer level that takes heavy influences from the level design of stealth games like Uncharted, Assassins Creed, and Sly Cooper games. The level has many ways to traverse the village to cater to different types of player. Whether they are more combative in games, more stealthy, more explorative, or even a mix between the three. Purpose: The purpose of this level was to go through the entire development pipeline of a level from research, to designing its layout, to 3D modeling its proxy whitebox art in Maya, prototyping a lot of the mechanics with blueprints. Creating a level in the stealth genre and creating multiple paths for the player to take so each experience is different and understanding the psychology of conveyance and player types. The Swamp Type: Personal Project Development: January - March 2021 Description: “The Swamp” is a third person shooter / platformer level that has a stylized aesthetic of a factory taking over a mystical swamp on the Planet Teplre. Initially inspired off of Planet Oozla from “Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando” this level fuses elements of traditional platforming, exploration with TPS gameplay. The level is expansive and has many hidden secrets for the explorer archetype and a wide variety of weapons to obtain for the player to get and use to the play experience for each player. Purpose: The purpose of this level was to go through the entire development pipeline of a level from research, to designing its layout, to 3D modeling its proxy whitebox art in Maya, to replacing the proxy with actual final art assets. It also was to challenge myself in creating more stylized lighting and post processing, being in a night time environment, having a large level and set dressing, and optimizing the level to allow consistent good gameplay and frames. FPS Multiplayer Conquest Map - The Promenade Type: Personal Project Development: March - May 2021 Description: “The Promenade” is a FPS multiplayer map that takes place in a scenic Mediterranean port town called Paume. The game mode in this level is Conquest with two teams both with 5 players trying to take control of 3 flags. The level has a symmetrical design that takes into account of special abilities like flight and certain guns like snipers to make domination both fair and fun. Purpose: The purpose of this level was to go through the entire development pipeline of a level from research, to designing its layout, to 3D modeling its proxy whitebox art in Maya, to replacing the proxy with actual final art assets. The other purpose was to understand and replicate the design process of a PvP map how to create a symmetrical level design that benefits and hinders both teams. Understanding concepts like conflict points, choke points, loops, flow, etc. Tools Used: Unreal Engine 4, Maya, Blueprints, Photoshop, Illustrator
